EMERGENCY PSYCHOLOGICAL, HUMANITARIAN AND SOCIAL RESPONSE TO THE NEEDS OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN EXPERIENCING SEXUAL VIOLENCE DURING THE PERIOD OF WAR

The project is aimed at providing comprehensive emergency care and improving the quality of life of girls and women who experienced sexual violence during Russia's military aggression, by ensuring their access to comprehensive services in offline and online formats.

TARGET GROUPS:

  • women in need of emergency medical care or rehabilitation as a result of war;
  • women and children who were sexually abused and tortured by the Russian military;
  • women from among forcibly displaced persons, asylum seekers, refugees or migrants.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project is implemented by the IBF "Ukrainian Public Health Foundation" with the financial support of the "Renaissance" International Foundation.

The goal of the project is to provide comprehensive emergency care and improve the quality of life of girls and women who experienced sexual violence during Russia's military aggression by providing them with access to high-quality comprehensive services (psychological, medical-social, humanitarian) in offline and online formats.

A separate area of ​​work is the humanitarian support of women and girls, both with medicines and in-kind and monetary aid, since these are women from the occupied territories who, in addition to the trauma, have lost their homes and jobs. As part of managing each client's case, the project team records all information about the incoming social, psychological, and physical state of the client, in accordance with ethical standards and with proper coding for recording the fact of sexual violence, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of case management.

The main tasks are:

✔️ Ensuring access of women who have experienced sexual violence to quality psychological services, the protocol of which includes not only emergency psychological help, but also long-term psychotherapy;

Expanding the access of women who have experienced sexual violence to comprehensive social services for finding and providing asylum, obtaining IDP and refugee status, humanitarian aid, organizing evacuation in coordination with other evacuation centers/volunteers.

Providing humanitarian support to women who have experienced sexual violence and are displaced from the occupied territories in the form of in-kind (food, medicine) and monetary support.

SERVICES OFFERED BY THE PROJECT

✔️ Provision of psycho-social support,

✔️ Payment of medical services — gynecology, venereology, dermatology, testing for HIV, STDs, pregnancy,

✔️ Payment for reproductive health support kits for women,

✔️ Product sets for mother and child,

✔️ Financial assistance in the most difficult financial situation to pay for minimum needs in the first months of rehabilitation.
