ПОКРАЩЕННЯ ПРИХИЛЬНОСТІ ВІЛ-ПОЗИТИВНИХ ЖІНОК І ЖІНОК ІЗ ГРУПИ РИЗИКУ ДО ЛІКУВАННЯ ВІЛ ШЛЯХОМ КОМПЛЕКСНОЇ ЕКСТРЕНОЇ ПІДТРИМКИ ТА ДОГЛЯДУ ПІД ЧАС ГУМАНІТАРНОЇ КРИЗИ В УКРАЇНІ

IMPROVING HIV TREATMENT ADHERENCE OF HIV+ AND AT-RISK WOMEN, WHO ARE SMT PATIENTS. REDUCING THE RISK OF HIV-INFECTION AMONG WOMEN AT RISK THROUGH HOLISTIC EMERGENCY SUPPORT AND CARE DURING THE UKRAINE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

1) The project is aimed at providing emergency support to HIV-positive women, SMT-women and women at risk by promoting their integration into new communities in Ukraine and Europe. 2) Measures are aimed at HIV and STI prevention, outreach technology, remote and in-person healthcare, social and psychological services, organization of safe environment for women and their children.

TARGET GROUPS:

HIV-positive women and women-at-risk of HIV infection, who:

✔️ at risk of treatment interruption of HIV or SMT due to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and also have mental health problems, which related to war,

✔️ IDPs from areas of active combat, forced to move abroad or who are refugees in European countries,

✔️ have experienced sexual violence in territories that were or remain occupied by Russian troops,

✔️ belong to high-risk groups in relation to HIV-infection (drug addicts, commercial sex workers, persons in conflict with the law) and vulnerable groups (pregnant women, mothers, nursing mothers and women, who raise young children).

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project “Improving HIV treatment adherence of HIV+ and at-risk women through holistic emergency support and care during the Ukraine humanitarian crisis” is implemented by the International Charitable Foundation "Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health" with the support of ActionAid Spain (ALIANZA/ACTIONAID SPAIN) (AA SP) – an international alliance for law, equality and solidarity.

1) The military offensive launched by the russian troops on February 24, 2022 led to massive displacement of the Ukrainian people and a humanitarian crisis, which requires immediate solution.

2) Under these conditions, HIV-positive patients and other risk groups have suffered greatly from the war and face additional barriers to access essential medicines and healthcare services, especially in the case of internal or external displacement.

3) According to UNAIDS, 30% of patients who are currently receiving ART, risk interrupt their treatment, because of the absence of restocking or the supplies of drugs are are limited.

Project geography:
✔️ outreach and in-person services in Kyiv, L’viv, Uzhhorod,
✔️ remote consulting: as all Ukrainian regions, as European countries.

The project carries out its activity with women at risk through outreach and in-person, at the:
✔️ Service Centers in Kyiv, L’viv, Uzhhorod,
✔️ Halfway Houses in Kyiv, L’viv, Uzhhorod.

Also, on the basis of the Project’s online-platform, for all Ukrainian regions' and European countries’ inhabitants our specialists are providing remote consulting.

SERVICES OFFERED BY THE PROJECT

In Service Centers in Kyiv, Uzhhorod, L’viv:
✔️ provision of social, psychological and healthcare assistance to the most vulnerable groups of women, in particular HIV-positive women, commercial sex workers, drug users and GBV’s victims,
✔️ testing for HIV, STDs, hepatitis B&C,
✔️ accompaniment to the healthcare institutions for diagnosis and STDs treatment, and, also for enrollment to the SMT program.

In Halfway Houses in Kyiv, L’viv, Uzhhorod it is possible to receive the following services:
✔️ accommodation in the rooms equipped for mothers with children with all necessary things,
✔️ childcare trainings, comprehensive social support, psychological and legal consulting,
✔️ access to healthcare services, HIV-prevention, TB, dtug addiction, violence prevention, etc.

Mobile team visits to L’viv, Uzhhorod and Kyiv provide:
✔️ consulting and test women from closed, hard-to-reach groups, such as women, who provide sexual services, drug-addicted women, etc.

The Project's online-platform provides:
✔️ remote consulting on providing social, psychological and healthcare services to the most vulnerable groups of women, including HIV-positive women, commercial sex workers, drug users and victims of GBV,
✔️ remote consulting for women who have been forced to move to other Ukrainian regions or European countries.
