When a child experiences or witnesses violence, the most difficult thing for them is to repeatedly recount their traumatic experience to different people in different institutions. The Barnahus model operates around the world to avoid this, and soon such a center will open in Khmelnytskyi region.
How this child support system works and what its implementation means for the region was discussed with Halyna Skipalska during a live broadcast on TV7+ Khmelnytskyi TV channel. Ukraine..
In early 2026, the ICF 'Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health' signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration. This was preceded by almost a year of negotiations, and the document itself was the first step towards creating a Barnahus center in the region. The team is currently working on the next stage — finding premises for the future space.
At the Barnahus center, children will not have to visit different institutions. All specialists — psychologists, social workers, investigators, and others — work together so that children can receive support in a safe and friendly atmosphere.
Khmelnytskyi region is starting this journey with an important advantage: there are more than 15 Barnahus centers operating in Ukraine, so the region can use their experience and adapt best practices to wartime conditions.
Watch the broadcastto learn more about how this model works and why the emergence of the Barnahus center could be an important step toward better protection for children.
